NEXT EVENT:
The eleventh annual Ringing World National Youth Contest will take place on Saturday 2nd July 2022 in Exeter. Essex will once again be represented by the Essex Young EaglesEssex Young Ringers' is an informal group made up of any young ringers of all abilities from Essex under the age of 25. Parents and other supporters are encouraged to come along to any events too. We want to get every young ringer to join in so don't worry if you can only ring rounds at the moment — all are welcome. Put the dates in your diary and join in! We have regular monthly practices at different towers mainly in the South Eastern District as it is more central for everyone but we do venture into other Districts too.
If you haven't been to a Young Ringers' practice before, why not make it your new year's resolution to try it out this year? We ring anything from rounds and call changes as well as some method ringing - everyone is welcome!
Young Ringers Practices The monthly practices are open to all young ringers of all abilities. At the practices we aim to give everyone an opportunity to work on whatever they are learning in their tower and progress or try something that their tower cannot offer.
In addition to the monthly practices we enter teams into two bellringing contests: the Ringing World National Youth Contest (RWNYC) and South East England Striking Contest (SEECON). The RWNYC is a major event in the national ringing calendar with 24 or so teams of young ringers from all over the country coming together for a fantastic day out. SEECON is a small and more informal version. Essex Young Ringers have taken part in the RWNYC since its inception in 2011 and SEECON since 2016.
Please encourage your young ringers to come along, they have the opportunity to meet with other ringers of their own age, to make new friends and enjoy the relaxed ringing atmosphere.
The sessions are led by Christina Brewster with help from other experienced ringers. The ringing is usually run by one of the young people.
Monthly practices for our young ringers are usually held on the last Sunday of the month, between 4.30pm – 6.00pm
There is a Facebook group called Essex Young Ringers. This is a closed group and you should contact Christina to gain access
The EYR website is where future events could be listed, and where reports of events, achievements by young ringers, photos etc could be posted.
If you would like further information about Essex Young Ringers, please contact , the Youth Coordinator
If you would like to see what the group has been up to recently, follow this link to Past Events
This link to the Essex Young Ringers Facebook Group takes you to a forum where young ringers can discuss ideas for events, advertise what is happening at towers across the county and share achievements in ringing.
It is a great way to make friends, to ring with others of your own age, and to have a good time.
