Queen's Jubilee

With less than a month to go, arrangements should be well in hand for ringing to mark HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Whilst the whole weekend lends itself to plenty of celebratory ringing it has been agreed that a focus for collective bellringing should coincide with the Service of Thanksgiving being held at St Paul’s on Friday 3 June at 11.30am. Bells on Sunday – Guide to making a recording

Every week on BBC Radio 4, at about 05:43 on a Sunday morning and repeated on Monday at 00:45 a two-minute snippet of bellringing is aired. Ringing ranges from 5 to 12 bells and when possible is related to an event or date of importance. Clips for broadcast are selected from quite a limited BBC collection so over the years many recordings are repeated. It would be great to get some new recordings and particularly from towers that have never featured before. Read more

Queen's Jubilee

The main Jubilee celebrations take place over an extended Bank Holiday, with the late May Bank Holiday being moved to Thursday 2 June and an additional Bank Holiday on Friday 3 June. The four-day celebrations will feature an extensive programme of events that showcase the best of British ceremonial splendour and pageantry. Read more
