Sadly we report the death yesterday of Don Crouchman, 95, previous tower captain and ringer at St Peter’s South Weald.

Don learned to ring as a youth and was part of a group of ringers including Bert and Francis Goddard, Vic Dale and Des Mayall who rang extensively in the Brentwood and Chelmsford area in the 60s and 70s. Don had been living independently until February this year when he moved into a care home.

Details of Don’s funeral will follow.
