Sat 13 Sept: Chiming event in East London

It is my pleasure to invite you to join the Carillon Society of Britain and Ireland for an event featuring two chimes in London. RSVP by email to Scott Allan Orr (Secretary, secretary@carillonsbi.org). All are welcome, including non-members, non-chimers, and family and friends.

PROGRAMME

13.00-14.30 – Memorial Community Church, 395 Barking Road, London, E13 8AL

The church has invited us to celebrate with them the centenary of their ten-bell chime. Our visit coincides with Heritage Open Days 2025 and there is currently an art exhibition in the tower as well. The church has kindly offered a light buffet lunch, please could you confirm if you are coming, and your dietary requirements.

14.30-15.30 – Travel – Public transport

15.30-16.30 – All Hallows by the Tower, Byward Street, London, EC3R 5BJ

This 18-bell chime (one and a half octaves) is one of the largest in the British Isles by number of bells and size of the bourdon/tenor. The church will also be open for visiting and is well worth it for its history and reconstructed interiors if you have not visited before.

For those interested, there will be informal socialising following this nearby at the Liberty Bounds (15 Trinity Square, City of London, EC3N 4AA).
