Dear all
Please find attached a message from the Central Council regarding a submission that bellringing should become a recognised living heritage. In order to support it’s application, it needs as many signatures from ringers to support it. Therefore, if you are willing and able, please complete the short online form here https://cccbr.org.uk/heritage/.
Voluntary expressions of support from individual ringers and the wider ringing community are very welcome and help to build our case please respond online via the response form below. Any concerns or points of clarification may be raised with the CCCBR living heritage task group by emailing heritage@cccbr.org.uk
*Living Heritage application (UNESCO)*
The UK recently joined the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH).
The Central Council has set up a Task Group to co-ordinate a submission to create inventories of living heritage in the UK.
A pre-requisite is that the application must be made with the prior consent of the community of practice, i.e. the ringing fraternity. Therefore, we ask for your help.
We would like for you as the representative of your guild/association to both discuss with your members and *sign the petition* <https://cccbr.org.uk/heritage/> to show support. Individual ringers can also show support through the same process.
Many thanks
