Dear All
It is with regret that I inform you of the passing of Colin G Wright on Friday 30th May.
Colin learned to ring in the 1963/64 at Walthamstow, St Mary’s, and being a quick learner rang his first quarter peal of Grandsire Triples on the treble in May 1964.
Colin rang regularly at Barkingside, as a young man, and met his wife, to be, Jill there as well.
Colin was part of the Dagenham spliced band that eventually rang a peal of Norman Smith’s 23 Spliced all-the-work, for the first time for Essex at Dagenham in 1975. Colin was also in the first peal of Chandler’s 23 Spliced for Essex at Dagenham in 2009. Hewas a member at St Paul’s Cathedral and the College Youths and rang regularly with them.
Colin was well known for his sense of fun and humour and being in his company was always entertaining. His sudden death after a short illness is a shock and he will be missed by many.
The funeral for Colin will be held on Friday 27 June at 1.30pm at South East Essex Crematorium, Ockendon Road, Upminster RM14 2UY. There will be a gathering at the Huntsman and Hounds opposite the Crematorium afterwards.
If you are intending to attend please let Tony Bloomfield know so he can help coordinate the number of ringers. Tony’s email istony_bloomfield@aol.com.
Kind regards
Sylvia Crick
