Three years in a row now we’ve had a lovely sunny day for our SE District picnic on the Terling church green. This year we teamed it up for the first time with our 6 bell call change competition which attracted 5 bands plus a scratch band.
In between the ringing, there was the now traditional jenga competition and a new entry of a croquet set. It was also lovely to have the opportunity to see the new peal board in the ringing room marking the 500th peal on the bells.
Congratulations to the team from Writtle who came first (87%), followed by Danbury (76%) and then Great Totham (66%). Also competing were bands from Great Baddow and Goldhanger.
We are hugely grateful to our judges for giving us their time – Steve Nash, Jonathan and Jamie Slack.
Thanks also go to Hazel Steed for organising the day, Mike Worboys for stewarding in the ringing room, and David Hengeli for hosting us at this beautiful location on the green under the trees.
