Dear Members
Please find below details of the Association 6 and 8 bell Striking Competition finals, being held in the Southern District on 11th July 2026. Even if you are not ringing in one of the bands, please do come along to support your district teams, spend a day socialising, and listening to some excellent ringing.
The plan for the day is as follows:
The 8 bell Striking Competition draw will be at 10:00 am at South Weald in the Church.
There is a large car park at the side of the Church. Once the Draw has taken place, tea, coffee and light refreshments will be served. CASH only please for all refreshments.
A two course ploughman’s lunch with homemade desserts will be served in North Ockendon Church starting at 12:45, price £7.00 per person. CASH only and it would be very helpful if you could bring the correct money. Preordering your lunch is ESSENTIAL so please contact Liz Brown (s-district-treasurer@eacr.org.uk or text/ring 07581 562458) to order your lunch by Tuesday 7th July at the latest.
There is some parking available at the front of the church at North Ockendon, RM14 3QH; spaces are very limited, so please car share as much as possible. North Ockendon is included within the ULEZ, so please use this link to check whether your car is compliant – Check your vehicle
Please bring your own garden chairs so you can sit in the Churchyards at St Peter’s Church, South Weald, and St Mary Magdalene Church, North Ockendon if the weather is favourable.
The 8 bell competition results will be at 1.30 pm in North Ockendon Church with the 6 bell Competition draw taking place at 2:00 pm. The 6 bell Competition ringing will start at 2.15 pm.
A raffle will be arranged with all proceeds to EACR Bell Restoration Fund, so any donations of prizes will be gratefully received.
Refreshments will be served during the afternoon with homemade cake. Please bring some change to make a donation for refreshments.
The 6 Bell Competition Results will be announced in North Ockendon Church soon after 6pm.
It promises to be a great day out, so please do come along to support your teams and enjoy the day.
